On Thursday, 27 April 2017, in the evening at around 18:00, in Prienų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus national road (kilometre 28.95), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Opel Zafira and a Renault Laguna. Two people were injured — the 31-year-old driver of the Renault (hospitalized) and a 9-year-old passenger of the Renault (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Opel (19 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
