On Thursday, 18 May 2017, at night at 23:19, in Vilniaus district municipality, on the Vilnius–Utena main road (kilometre 35.10), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW 320I registered in Germany and a Volkswagen Vento. Two people were injured — the 19-year-old driver of the BMW (treated as an outpatient) and a 19-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
