On Saturday, 1 July 2017, in the evening at 21:29, in Vilniaus city municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 16), a Mazda 323 rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the Mazda (less than a year of driving experience). He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
