On Friday, 21 July 2017, in the afternoon at 14:24, in Kaunas, on Kuršių street near No. 40, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW, a Renault Laguna, an Opel Zafira and an Audi 80. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the BMW (12 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.39‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
