On Thursday, 10 August 2017, in the morning at around 9:00, in Palanga, on Vytauto street, at the junction with Gintaro street, a collision with a bicycle occurred. The collision involved a Skoda Yeti and a bicycle. One person was injured — a 59-year-old cyclist (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 86-year-old driver of the Skoda (60 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 30 km/h.
