On Wednesday, 23 August 2017, in the evening at 22:22, in Vilniaus district municipality, on the Vilnius-Švenčionys-Zarasai national road (kilometre 19), a Renault Espace hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 30-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by a 30-year-old pedestrian, who was walking at night without reflectors (light, hi-vis vest).
