On Sunday, 27 August 2017, in the evening at around 21:00, in Palanga, on Žuvėdrų street near No. 57, a Volkswagen Transporter registered in Norway ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (9 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations. He was drunk (2.04‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was raining, the road surface was wet.
