On Tuesday, 5 September 2017, in the afternoon at around 15:00, in Kaunas, on Taikos pr., at the junction with J. Basanavičiaus al., a Mercedes-Benz A 170 CDI ran off the road. The collision involved a Mitsubishi Canter and the Mercedes-Benz. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 48-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (25 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
