On Monday, 25 September 2017, in the evening at around 18:00, in Kaunas, on Baltų pr. near No. 81, a Ford Focus hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. Three people were injured — a 9-year-old passenger of the Ford (treated as an outpatient), a 32-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient) and a 5-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 39-year-old driver of the Ford (18 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
