On Saturday, 30 September 2017, in the afternoon at around 11:00, in Kaunas, on Raudondvario pl. near No. 114, a Volkswagen Golf hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 72-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 76-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (59 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
