On Wednesday, 25 October 2017, in the evening at around 17:00, in Joniškio district municipality, on the Ryga–Šiauliai–Tauragė–Kaliningradas main road (kilometre 20.77), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Seat Arosa and a Volkswagen Sharan. Three people were injured — the 35-year-old driver of the Seat (treated as an outpatient), the 45-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient) and a 51-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the Seat (12 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. Both drivers were sober.
