On Friday, 10 November 2017, in the morning at 7:22, in Tauragės district municipality, on Dariaus ir Girėno street near No. 48, a Mercedes-Benz - hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a 7-year-old pedestrian. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (21 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He fled the scene. The driver was sober.
