On Friday, 10 November 2017, in the evening at 22:04, in Akmenės district municipality, on Žemaičių street near No. 50, a Volkswagen Vento hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 31-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober.
