On Monday, 27 November 2017, in the evening at 17:45, in Rokiškio district municipality, on the Rokiškis–Maineivos–Naujasodė regional road (kilometre 13.70), a car hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 45-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). One person was injured — a 22-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 54-year-old driver of a car (38 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (1.93‰ blood alcohol). A 54-year-old passenger of a car was drunk (2.27‰). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
