On Sunday, 21 January 2018, in the evening at 17:25, in Utenos district municipality, on Smėlio street near No. 14, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a Mitsubishi Carisma and a Fiat Brava. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.49‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
