On Monday, 29 January 2018, in the evening at around 18:00, in Kaunas, on P. Dovydaičio street near No. 2, at the junction with Utenos street, a Volvo V70 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 61-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Volvo (17 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, there was freezing rain, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
