On Friday, 23 March 2018, in the evening at 19:45, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 288), a Volvo S80 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 55-year-old driver of the Volvo (37 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, there was fog, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
