On Tuesday, 17 April 2018, in the evening at 17:30, in Biržų district municipality, on the Biržai–Pandėlys–Rokiškis national road (kilometre 5.40), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz E 220 CDI and a Mercedes-Benz C200 registered in Latvia. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 39-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz E 220 CDI (19 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
