On Wednesday, 2 May 2018, in the afternoon at around 13:00, in Varėnos district municipality, on the Valkininkų g s –Daugai–Alytus national road (kilometre 21), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a vehicle and a Citroen Berlingo. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by an unidentified person, who violated overtaking rules. He fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
