On Sunday, 20 May 2018, in the evening at 20:15, in Šilutės district municipality, Šlažų village, on the Šilutė–Rusnė national road (kilometre 2.47), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Ford and an Audi 8D, Audi A4, -S4. Two people were injured — the 33-year-old driver of the Ford (hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt) and the 36-year-old driver of the Audi (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the Ford (12 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober.
