On Monday, 21 May 2018, in the evening at 20:40, in Šiaulių district municipality, on M. K. Čiurlionio street, at the junction with Stoties street, a Peugeot 307 hit an obstacle. Two people were injured — the 40-year-old driver of the Peugeot (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt) and the 35-year-old driver of a Volkswagen Caddy (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Peugeot, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.80‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
