On Thursday, 31 May 2018, in the afternoon at 11:20, in Kaunas, on Medekšinės street, at the junction with Krivių street, a collision while turning right occurred. The collision involved a BMW Serie 5, an Audi A4 Avant and an Opel Zafira. One person died — a 67-year-old pedestrian. Two people were injured — the 29-year-old driver of the BMW (treated as an outpatient) and the 53-year-old driver of the Opel (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the BMW (10 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
