On Friday, 29 June 2018, in the afternoon at 15:15, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Palanga main road (kilometre 27.85), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Toyota Avensis Verso, a Fiat registered in Germany and an Audi 100 Avant. Five people were injured — the 53-year-old driver of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient), a 58-year-old passenger of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient), a 58-year-old passenger of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient), a 68-year-old passenger of the Fiat (treated as an outpatient) and the 76-year-old driver of the Fiat (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 53-year-old driver of the Toyota (12 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
