On Friday, 20 July 2018, in the evening at 17:02, in Vilnius, on Kirtimų street, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a DAF FT XF105, a Seat Alhambra, a Toyota Yaris, a Mercedes-Benz ML 350 Bluetec 4MATIC, a Schmitz Cargobull, a Volkswagen Golf and a Volkswagen NEW Beetle. One person died — the 49-year-old driver of the Toyota. Four people were injured — the 23-year-old driver of the Volkswagen NEW Beetle (treated as an outpatient), a 44-year-old passenger of the Toyota (hospitalized), the 52-year-old driver of the Seat (hospitalized) and a 23-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen NEW Beetle (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the DAF (7 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
