On Tuesday, 24 July 2018, in the evening at 17:49, in Palangos city municipality, on the Klaipėda–Liepoja main road (kilometre 27.60), a collision with a bicycle occurred. The collision involved a bicycle and a Kawasaki. Two people died — a 44-year-old cyclist (later died from the injuries) and the 39-year-old driver of the Kawasaki (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by a 44-year-old cyclist, who failed to give way when changing direction. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
