On Sunday, 29 July 2018, in the evening at 19:58, in Kauno district municipality, Vareikonių village, on the Vilkija–Padauguva–Vareikoniai regional road (kilometre 15.60), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. Three people were injured — a 9-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient), a 30-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (hospitalized) and the 31-year-old driver of the Peugeot (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 39-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (22 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. He was drunk (1.87‰ blood alcohol).
