On Wednesday, 15 August 2018, in the morning at around 9:00, in Vilnius, on Salomėjos Nėries street near No. 55, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a BMW 1er Reihe and a Volvo S80. Three people were injured — the 35-year-old driver of the BMW (treated as an outpatient), the 25-year-old driver of the Volvo (hospitalized) and a 19-year-old passenger of the Volvo (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the BMW (17 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
