On Saturday, 25 August 2018, in the afternoon at around 16:00, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Kuršėnai–Smilgiai–Aukštelkė regional road (kilometre 11.50), a BMW 530 rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the BMW (6 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
