On Tuesday, 28 August 2018, in the evening at 17:19, in Švenčionių district municipality, Medišionių village, on the Švenčionys–Adutiškis national road (kilometre 4.97), an Audi A6 Avant ran off the road. Two people died — the 22-year-old driver of the Audi and a 23-year-old passenger of the Audi. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
