On Thursday, 13 September 2018, in the evening at 19:45, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta k. pusė) main road (kilometre 17), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volvo FH 42T registered in Kazakhstan, a Schmitz S01 registered in Kazakhstan, an Audi A6 registered in Germany and a Volkswagen Bora. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 57-year-old driver of the Volvo (30 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
