On Saturday, 15 September 2018, in the evening at 21:15, in Šilutės district municipality, on the Kaunas–Jurbarkas–Šilutė–Klaipėda national road (kilometre 165), a Ford Mondeo hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the Ford, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. A 24-year-old passenger of the Ford was drunk. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
