On Sunday, 16 September 2018, at night at 2:30, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zapyškis–Šakiai national road (kilometre 14.20), a BMW 320 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 55-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to choose a safe speed. She was drunk (1.57‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
