On Friday, 28 September 2018, in the evening at 22:34, in Vilnius, on Blindžių street near No. 17, a Toyota Avensis hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. Three people were injured — a 21-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized), a 23-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient) and a 20-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Toyota, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.22‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
