On Wednesday, 17 October 2018, in the morning at 10:15, in Varėnos district municipality, on M. K. Čiurlionio street near No. 61, an Audi A6 Avant hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 64-year-old driver of the Audi (44 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
