On Friday, 26 October 2018, in the morning at around 8:00, in Šiauliai, on Vytauto street, at the junction with Rūdės street, an Opel Astra hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 75-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 60-year-old driver of the Opel (6 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
