On Sunday, 28 October 2018, in the morning at 9:24, in Mažeikių district municipality, on the Ežerė–Mažeikiai national road (kilometre 6.17), an Opel ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the Opel (19 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
