On Saturday, 24 November 2018, at night at 23:35, in Klaipėda, on Taikos pr., at the junction with Statybininkų pr., a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Mazda 6 registered in Latvia and a Peugeot 406. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 48-year-old driver of the Mazda (32 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. He was drunk (3.21‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
