On Sunday, 16 December 2018, in the evening at 18:50, in Kaunas, on Tirkiliškių street, at the junction with Vaitapilės street, a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a BMW 530 D. One person was injured — the 34-year-old driver of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Jeep (18 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was snowing, there was freezing rain, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
