On Sunday, 16 December 2018, in the evening at around 21:00, in Kaunas, on Plytinės street, a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a BMW 525 D and an Opel Signum. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 51-year-old driver of the BMW (24 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was snowing, the road surface was contaminated. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
