On Monday, 24 December 2018, at night at 4:40, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Pakruojis–Pasvalys national road (kilometre 10.01), an Audi A6 Avant ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.66‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
