On Tuesday, 15 January 2019, in the afternoon at 11:18, in Jonavos district municipality, on J. Ralio street, at the junction with Klaipėdos street, an Audi A6 Avant hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a 78-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 72-year-old driver of the Audi (54 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
