On Wednesday, 16 January 2019, at night at 2:07, in Skuodo district municipality, on the Mažeikiai–Skuodas national road (kilometre 49.95), a BMW 525 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (0.48‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
