On Monday, 21 January 2019, in the evening at around 22:00, in Šiaulių district municipality, on Daugėlių street, a car ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of a car (10 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (0.07‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
