On Sunday, 27 January 2019, in the evening at 19:06, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Jakai–Dovilai–Laugaliai national road (kilometre 5.40), a BMW ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was a blizzard, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
