On Friday, 1 February 2019, in the afternoon at 16:53, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Gruzdžiai–Naujoji Akmenė national road (kilometre 34.60), a Volkswagen Passat ran off the road. Two people were injured — the 35-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (hospitalized) and a 29-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (17 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober.
