On Tuesday, 12 February 2019, at night at 2:45, in Anykščių district municipality, on Vilties street near No. 2A, at a railway crossing, a BMW 528 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the BMW (4 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.56‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, there was freezing rain, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
