On Tuesday, 2 April 2019, in the evening at 21:20, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Jurbarkas–Šilutė–Klaipėda national road (kilometre 16.93), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Fiat Scudo and a Nissan Almera Tino. Two people were injured — a 65-year-old passenger of the Nissan (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt) and the 53-year-old driver of the Nissan (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 49-year-old driver of the Fiat (26 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober.
