On Sunday, 7 July 2019, at night at around 2:00, in Molėtų district municipality, Pivoriūnų village, on the Vilnius–Utena main road (kilometre 41.33), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a BMW 523i, a Volkswagen Multivan and a Volvo. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 17-year-old driver of the BMW, who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (1.43‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. A 19-year-old passenger of the BMW was drunk (1.48‰). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was freezing rain, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
