On Saturday, 20 July 2019, in the evening at 19:22, in Ukmergės district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis main road (kilometre 53.18), a head-on collision while overtaking occurred. The collision involved an Audi A4 Avant registered in Denmark and a Volkswagen Golf. Six people were injured — a 11-year-old passenger of the Audi (hospitalized), a 10-year-old passenger of the Audi (hospitalized), a 4-year-old passenger of the Audi (hospitalized), the 44-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (hospitalized), a 16-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (hospitalized) and a 43-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 41-year-old driver of the Audi (22 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober.
