On Thursday, 25 July 2019, in the afternoon at 16:58, in Raseinių district municipality, on the Ariogala–Betygala–Šiluva regional road (kilometre 29), a head-on collision while overtaking occurred. The collision involved a Volvo V70 and a Saab 9-5. Two people died — the 28-year-old driver of the Volvo and a 24-year-old passenger of the Volvo. One person was injured — the 49-year-old driver of the Saab (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the Volvo (10 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
